Enjoy a peaceful weekend of yoga and walking in Snowdonia!
Roll out your yoga mat and find a comfortable seat - we’ve got the perfect tonic to the busyness of daily life.
This weekend mini-retreat blends beginner-friendly yoga with leisurely guided walks in the glorious foothills of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy some of the best Snowdonia has to offer: peaceful valleys, tranquil lakes, and pretty villages. What’s more, you’ll be based in a charming guesthouse, one of our favourites, right at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).
You’ll be in great hands for the weekend, with your Large Outdoors host taking care of the cooking and orientation, and an experienced guide on your day walks. Yoga sessions will be taught by a qualified yoga instructor, focusing on calming sequences with some good stretches and strengthening postures. These will be held outside where possible. Finally, the cherry on top is the wonderful company you’ll be joined by: a group of fellow outdoors-lovers looking to unplug and enjoy brilliant sociable walks and calming yoga.
Please Note: You must bring your own yoga mat (and a blanket is also useful) for this weekend. It’s entirely up to you how you engage with the yoga sessions though. Want to skip a session? No problem!
Suggested Itinerary
Here’s what we’ve got planned - of course, we may have to offer alternatives or make amendments if the weather misbehaves or other unexpected situations arise!
-
You are free to arrive at our accommodation for the weekend any from 5pm, where you’ll be greeted by your Large Outdoors host. You’ll soon discover how lovely the guesthouse is, and how stunning the surroundings are. Take some time to appreciate the impressive mountain views and the sounds of the stream running through the pretty village of Llanberis.
If you wish to take part in this evening’s yoga session you will need to arrive no later than 6:30pm. Until then, feel free to relax with a cup of tea and meet your fellow guests in the cosy lounge, complete with log-burner. After the yoga session, we’ll serve dinner at around 8pm. The evening is yours to enjoy with your fellow guests - grab a glass of wine or something soft and look forward to the brilliant weekend ahead!
-
If you’re an early bird and want to start the day with some stretching then there’s a 7:30am yoga session that will set you up for the day’s adventures. An alternative tonic could be a quick pre-breakfast stroll through the village or feel free to lie-in until breakfast.
After breakfast, we head out for a day’s walking with a route that can be as easy or as challenging as the group wants. However, we aim to stay at a low level and explore the fantastically varied scenery that can encompass anything from valleys, woodland, coast and some small hills. Here are some possible routes:
Nant Gwynant and Beddgelert - Starting from the achingly beautiful village of Beddgelert, there’s an undulating trail that snakes its way through the valley alongside rivers and lakes, and gently climbs up the flanks of the surrounding hills. As you stroll along you’ll forget the miles being covered as the expansive views down the Nant Gwynant valley open up and you marvel at the majestic beauty of Snowdon itself.
Moel Siabod - This hill lies in splendid isolation from the other main peaks in North Wales and is all the better for that as it remains less of a honeypot for walkers and yet offers beautiful walking. With good tracks and views aplenty, Moel Siabod is a great introduction to hill walking with just the right amount of challenge that pushes people without it being a scary route march.
Forests of Betws-y-Coed - The village of Betws-y-Coed is surrounded by forest and low undulating hills, speckled with lakes, streams and waterfalls. With umpteen trails offering plenty of choice for a day’s exploring, it lives up to its reputation as a walker’s paradise.
Once back at the guesthouse, there’s plenty of downtime before another relaxing and rejuvenating yoga session around 5:30pm, that will ease your muscles after the day’s exertions. Tonight we will enjoy dinner at the accommodation again, prepared by your Large Outdoors host.
-
Enjoy one last yoga session this morning, taking place at 7:30am.
Then it’s time for breakfast and to check out of the accommodation. Today we’ll seek out some of the hidden, quieter parts of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park for a gentle stroll. We’re spoiled for choice with lovely routes, so we’ll see what we feel like accomplishing on the day and plan our route accordingly.
After a peaceful walk, the group may wish to visit a café for a light lunch or cuppa together before it’s time to go your separate ways, feeling fantastic after a weekend of stretching, exploring, and camaraderie!
Please Note: On some days there could be a short drive required - where activities don’t start from the door of the accommodation. We don't include transport and participants normally car share.

This trip is graded as Leisurely. You don’t need any previous yoga experience - the sessions are suitable for beginners. Click here to see Large Outdoors’ Experience Levels.• Can I attend on my own?
Absolutely. The majority of our participants are solo travellers and adventurers. Unfortunately, we are generally unable to cater for a wide variety of diets or food preferences due to the nature and cost of our catered trips and/or the use of shared kitchens. However, we can offer vegetarian meals, vegan meals, provide meals with gluten* free ingredients, and/or provide dairy* free meals - these options can be selected when booking. *Please see our general FAQs for more information about dietary options.• What transport is provided during this trip?

If you wish to bring your trained assistance dog, please let us know in advance of booking so we can discuss the itinerary and any activity/equipment/accommodation, and of course additional safety requirements or considerations that may be necessary. -
The first designated National Park in Wales, Snowdonia (Eryri National Park) includes Wales’ highest mountain, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), and an array of other peaks. Beyond the mountains, there are valleys, sandy estuaries, glacial lakes, forests and miles of walking trails.
Bounded by the Rivers Conwy and Dovey in the east and south, the view to the north and west stretches over the sea where, on a clear day, you can see the Llyn Peninsula, Cardigan Bay and even Ireland. Nestled among the mountains, you’ll find the history of the area in the form of sheep farming, forestry, and slate mining, and settlements dating back thousands of years.
