Guided Walking Holidays with a Sociable, Club-Like Feel
Making Outdoor Adventures Sociable
Welcome to Large Outdoors — a friendly walking community offering guided walking holidays, weekends and short breaks, car-free trips, and wild swimming adventures across the UK.
We’re not just about where you walk — we’re about who you walk with. Most people join Large Outdoors on their own, and many come back again and again. Our trips are designed to feel like joining a group rather than booking a one-off holiday, with a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of time to chat, share stories, and enjoy the walking together.
Since 2008, we’ve been bringing people together to explore Britain’s coastlines, countryside, and mountains in good company. We take care of the planning, guiding, accommodation, and transport, so you can focus on the walking, the places you visit, and the people you meet.
There’s no membership and no pressure — just browse, book, and Join Large Outdoors when the timing feels right.

Latest Offers & Early Bird Tickets
On some Large Outdoors trips, we release Early Bird tickets when new dates first go live. These reduced-price places are usually available for a short period and then removed once the early booking window closes.
We don’t discount trips closer to the departure date. This means Early Bird tickets are the only way we offer reduced prices, and availability changes as new trips are added throughout the year.
If you’re interested in seeing which trips currently have Early Bird tickets or offers available, you can find them all here:

Who We Are & What We Do
Large Outdoors is a long-established UK walking community, bringing together adults who enjoy walking as a shared experience. We run small-group, fully guided walking trips across England, Scotland, and Wales — from relaxed weekends away to longer walking holidays.
Many people walk with us once and return for more. Over time, familiar faces reappear, friendships form, and trips start to feel like meeting up with a wider group you already belong to. Whether you join for a single weekend or several trips a year, you’re always welcomed in the same way.
-

Who Walks with Large Outdoors?
Our community is friendly, inclusive, and made up of adults aged 18+. Many are solo travellers, professionals, or people looking to step away from busy routines and spend time outdoors with others.
Some people are new to group walking; others have been walking with us for years. Walking levels range from relaxed coastal routes to more demanding mountain days, with plenty of time built in for conversation and socialising.
If you like the idea of walking regularly with a wider group — without the formality of a club — you’ll feel at home here.

What Makes Large Outdoors Different
A Social Focus from the Start
Our trips are built around walking together and spending time as a group — not just following a route and heading off at the end of the day.
A Community, Not Just Customers
Lots of people return year after year. It’s common to recognise faces, share meals, and keep in touch between trips.
Professional, Approachable Guides
All walks are led by qualified leaders who know the local area well and help create a relaxed, inclusive group dynamic.
Clear Organisation, Less Stress
Routes, accommodation, meals, and transport are arranged in advance so you can enjoy the walking without juggling logistics.
Easy to Join Solo
Most participants come on their own. You’re never the odd one out, and you’ll be part of the group straight away.

Walking Holidays & Short Breaks
Guided Walking Weekends & Short Breaks
Two or three-night walking breaks designed to be social and easy to join. Expect steady guided walks, shared meals, and relaxed evenings in places like the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and the Scottish Highlands.
Four to seven-night holidays with a gentler pace, focusing on coastal paths, countryside, and local culture. These trips allow more time to settle into the group and enjoy walking days that don’t feel rushed.
Walking combined with guided wild swimming in rivers, lakes, and coastal locations. These trips are carefully managed, sociable, and suited to people who enjoy trying something new in a supportive group.
Walking weekends and holidays designed to be easy without a car. Many include collection from the nearest train station, with all local transport included during the trip.
