Suggested Itinerary
Day 1
You’re welcome to arrive at the guesthouse from 5pm, where your Large Outdoors host will be waiting to meet you and introduce you to your scrambling team-mates. This trip runs alongside another Large Outdoors experience, so there’s also the chance to chat to others who will be looking forward to their outdoor adventures over the weekend. Tonight will be about relaxing as we enjoy a group meal at the accommodation, served around 8pm.
Days 2 & 3
On these two full days we’ll start with breakfast at the guesthouse, have some time to make up our packed lunches, and then we’ll head out for our scrambles.
Day 1 will involve a wander up one of the easier scrambles in Snowdonia, aiming to allow you to develop some useful techniques, and get your first experience of hands-on-the-rock. This could be the south ridge of Moel Siabod, or perhaps the famous Senior’s Gully in Cwm Idwal.
Day 2 will be the day we attempt Crib Goch. Starting from the Llanberis Pass we’ll head up the north ridge, admiring the solid rock below and the views down into Cwm Glas, one of Snowdon’s wildest valleys. Crib Goch (the ‘red ridge’) is one of the ridges of Snowdon, and once on the famous ridge traverse we’ll be able to see the towering summit of Snowdon itself ahead. The traverse is exposed, and you’ll need a head for heights. We’ll enjoy fantastic views down to Llyn Llydaw and the Glyderau mountains, and watch all the people walking the Pyg Track far below. Once the scrambling is completed, we’ll head along the Pyg Track or Miners’ Track to descent back to the Llanberis Pass, where we’ll find somewhere to celebrate!
Each day, after returning from the walks, we’ll return to the guesthouse to freshen up. On Day 2 we will head to a local pub/restaurant for our evening meal (not included) and on Day 3 we will eat at the accommodation, with dinner prepared by your Large Outdoors host. You’ll meet up with the other participants again and find yourself re-living the adventures of the day, perhaps with a a drink in-hand!
Day 4
After breakfast and time to make lunch we’ll pack up and leave the accommodation to head out on our final walk and scramble - an adventure up Tryfan.
The north ridge of Tryfan rises up from the Ogwen Valley in an unbroken like from lake-side to over 3000 feet. It’s a must-do for adventurous walkers and one of the most visually stunning routes anywhere on these islands. You’ll find Tryfan very different to Crib Goch; there’s less exposure, and the scrambling is more ‘blocky’ giving you a different experience, but at a similar level of difficulty. From the summit we’ll admire the famous rocks of ‘Adam and Eve’ the boulders that crown Tryfan’s peak, and gaze across at the main face of Glyder Fach, where umpteen harder scrambles remain for you on another day.
Returning to the valley via an easy path, if the group have time perhaps we’ll have a final drink in a local café before it’s time to head home.
Please Note: The schedule explained above is our aim, and your Large Outdoors guide will do all they can to help you attempt Crib Goch and Tryfan, but scrambling is an activity that very much depends on the weather. If it is too wet or windy then we may not be able to attempt the scrambles due to safety. We will aim first and foremost to take you along Crib Goch, so if there is one day of good weather, that’s where we’ll go. There are also some other scrambles that are suitable for ‘bad weather’ days. Whatever happens, we will go out for the day, even if it’s walking in the valleys, and you’ll still have an adventurous weekend in Snowdonia.
On some days there could be a short drive required - where activities don’t start from the door of the accommodation. We don't include transport and participants normally car share, or we may use a local bus (cost not included),

This trip is graded as Tough (Scrambling). You don’t need any previous scrambling experience, but you will need a head for heights! Click here to see Large Outdoors’ Experience Levels.• Can I attend on my own?
Absolutely. The majority of our participants are solo travellers and adventurers. Unfortunately, we are generally unable to cater for a wide variety of diets or food preferences due to the nature and cost of our catered trips and/or the use of shared kitchens. However, we can offer vegetarian meals, vegan meals, provide meals with gluten* free ingredients, and/or provide dairy* free meals - these options can be selected when booking. *Please see our general FAQs for more information about dietary options.• What transport is provided during this trip?

The first designated National Park in Wales, Snowdonia (Eryri National Park) includes Wales’ highest mountain, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), and an array of other peaks. Beyond the mountains, there are valleys, sandy estuaries, glacial lakes, forests and miles of walking trails.
Bounded by the Rivers Conwy and Dovey in the east and south, the view to the north and west stretches over the sea where, on a clear day, you can see the Llyn Peninsula, Cardigan Bay and even Ireland. Nestled among the mountains, you’ll find the history of the area in the form of sheep farming, forestry, and slate mining, and settlements dating back thousands of years.
