Yorkshire Three Peaks completed – what’s next?

What can top the Yorkshire Three Peaks?

This year, hundreds of people joined us on our Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge walks. For most people it was an inspiring day providing a great sense of achievement, having completed the route across our county’s three highest peaks in under 12 hours.

So once you’ve ticked that one off your list, what’s next? Well here are five suggestions for other walking challenges that you may like to put on your radar.

1. National Three Peaks:

Why not take on the National Three Peaks challenge – scaling Ben Nevis in ScotlandScafell Pike in the Lake District and Snowdon in Wales – lots of people aim to complete this challenge within 24 hours. However, we don’t think that’s much fun and so here at Large Outdoors we run the National Three Peaks over three days. This means you summit and can enjoy each peak in the daylight, enjoy a good sleep and nice meal between peaks. We complete this trip with transport between the trio of points and a local mountain guide for each of the summits – as well as motivational chocolates along the way! 2. Ben Nevis:

If doing the ‘Big Three’ might be a step too far, how about joining one of our Ben Nevis weekends?

As well as conquering Britain’s highest summit, our weekends mean you can really immerse yourself in some of Scotland’s finest scenery. We also offer sunrise, moonlight and day walks on Ben Nevis.

3. Snowdon  or  Scafell Pike:

Both peaks make tough, challenging days out with fantastic views along the way.

If you want to push yourself a bit further then there is also the option of scaling Snowdon via the Watkin Path. This is a quieter route than the more popular Miners or Pyg path but harder particularly near the top as it requires a scramble across scree to reach the summit.

4. The top miles of Hadrian’s Wall:

We’re offering intrepid walkers the chance to walk what in our opinion are the “Best 40 miles of Hadrian’s Wall”.

After each day’s walk is completed we return to the same base in the secluded West Allen valley before transporting you to a further section of the wall the next day.

If you’ve never considered walking in Northumberland, then think again! It really is quite lovely and by isolating the best sections you get the full monty of gorgeous scenery, historic remains and great pubs!

5. Leave the challenge-completing behind!

Don’t feel under pressure to complete another challenge.

Just as much enjoyment and sense of wellbeing can come from simply strolling and ambling through Britain’s fantastic landscape. Whether it’s the Lake DistrictNorth York MoorsSnowdonia or Pembrokeshire, the contrasting scenery and variety of walking on offer means there is plenty to go at.

Of course there’s nothing to stop you from doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks again and see if you can shave a few minutes off your time!
