How do we grade our walks?
Discover the breathtaking coastal scenery of Pembrokeshire…
There’s plenty of spectacular scenery to be explored in Pembrokeshire – from lofty clifftops to sandy coves; Norman castles to historic lime kilns; quaint quays to picturesque villages.
And our base for the weekend, YHA Manorbier, is probably in one of the best locations as it enjoys sea views while having direct access to stunning coastal paths and sandy beaches. We have exclusive occupancy of the YHA for the weekend and on both evenings your Large Outdoors host will cater for the group, which means there’s plenty of time for guests to relax and enjoy the conversations that will flow easily right from the moment people gather.
During both days you can choose from a more leisurely stroll or active walk. Each will be led by our experienced guides who also happen to be great at boosting the confidence of those who are unsure as to how much walking they can do!
Suggested Itinerary
Day 1
From 5pm your Large Outdoors will be at the hostel to meet and greet the group as people arrive. After you’ve settled in, there will be ample time to get to know your fellow adventurers as well as having a quick explore of Manorbier to get some sea air, before we all gather back at the hostel for the dinner that we will have lovingly prepared!
While we’re tucking in to dinner - served around 8pm - we’ll outline the walks we have in mind for the weekend ahead.
Day 2
After breakfast, we’ll pack up our lunch, lace up our walking boots and head outside. We will have a choice of walks on offer depending on how leisurely or active you want to be (subject to participant numbers), with the delights of Pembrokeshire’s 186-mile coastal path beckoning.
We might walk along a stretch of the coastal path closest to Manorbier, or we have another option to drive a short distance so we can walk to Stackpole and Barafundle Beach. This is a superb route that takes in some fine wildlife habitats, including limestone cliffs and the rocky outcrops of the seashore.
Once back at Manorbier, it’s chill-out time before we serve the evening meal, prepared by your Large Outdoors host.
Day 3
After breakfast we pack up our belongings, check out of the hostel and venture out on one of the walk options (subject to participant numbers) led by the lovely Large Outdoors guides.
Today we might head towards Tenby to explore another wonderful stretch of the coastal path, admiring the rugged outcrops and panoramic views along the way. Back in Tenby it’ll be time to go our separate ways but perhaps you’ll take advantage of the opportunity to potter around the town - whether you have a penchant for gift shops or prefer to tuck into fish and chips - before you head off home.
Please note: On some days there could be a short drive required - where activities don’t start from the door of the accommodation. We don't include transport and participants normally car share.
