6-Night Itinerary: Isle of Skye Walking Holiday
Please note: This is our planned itinerary, but adjustments may be made based on weather conditions and other factors to ensure the best possible experience.
-
We offer convenient pick-ups in Glasgow: around 8:30am from Glasgow city centre and 8:45am from Glasgow Airport. After our scenic drive to Skye, we’ll settle into our hostel in Broadford. To start the week, we’ll take a relaxed walk around the local area, giving everyone a chance to get to know each other. In the evening, we’ll head to a nearby pub or restaurant to enjoy a meal together and discuss our plans for the week (dinner is not included).
-
Each day, we’ll embark on a different mountain walk, chosen based on weather conditions and the group’s interests. Skye offers an incredible variety of routes, and here are just a few of the options we may explore:
Blabheinn (Blaven): This standalone mountain in the Black Cuillin range is often described as castle-like, with towering rocky ridges. We’ll take a walking route to the summit, where we’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Cuillin Ridge and Loch Slapin.
Beinn na Caillich and the Red Hills: Known as the gateway to Skye’s mountains, Beinn na Caillich sits above Broadford and provides sweeping views of the island. Often combined with nearby peaks, this makes for an exhilarating day of walking through Skye’s scenic Red Cuillin.
The Trotternish Ridge and the Quiraing: This iconic ridge walk takes us through one of Skye’s most surreal landscapes, featuring dramatic rock formations, cliffs, and sweeping views across the island. The Quiraing, with its unique rock pinnacles, adds a mystical feel to the experience, making it a highlight for many walkers.
Bruach na Frithe and Sgurr a' Bhasteir: This walk takes us onto the Black Cuillin Ridge, arguably the finest mountain range in the UK. We’ll start by following a delightful river upstream as it cascades down numerous waterfalls, with dramatic views of Pinnacle Ridge on Sgurr nan Gillean. As we turn up into a corrie, the terrain becomes rockier, leading us to the summit of the Munro Bruach na Frithe. Without much loss of height, we’ll then cross the narrow ridge to Sgurr a’ Bhasteir, taking in the exhilarating views along the way.
Evenings
After each day of walking, we’ll return to the hostel to relax and freshen up. Each evening, we’ll head out to a local pub or restaurant for dinner (not included), where you can unwind and share stories with the group. -
After breakfast, we’ll pack up and depart Skye, reflecting on an incredible week of exploration. We aim to be back in Glasgow between 3-5pm, with drop-offs in the city centre and at Glasgow Airport. Please allow flexibility in your travel plans to account for possible traffic delays.
