A sociable walk through the heart of the Peak District with big views, rolling paths, and a summit to enjoy together.

Join Large Outdoors for an 8-mile day walk filled with variety – from winding dales and dramatic limestone scenery to the iconic ridgeline of Mam Tor. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the very best of the Peak District while walking and chatting with a friendly group.

We begin in Castleton, one of the prettiest villages in the Peaks, and follow a route that includes Cave Dale, sweeping hills, and the gentle climb up Mam Tor – a highlight of the day. Our guide will share insights into the landscape, and there’s plenty of time to pause, take in the views, and enjoy a laid-back day outdoors.

Whether you’re completely new to Large Outdoors or looking for a lovely way to reconnect with the group, this walk offers a perfect balance of great scenery and great company. We usually end the day with the option of popping into a local tearoom back in Castleton – the ideal way to wrap up the walk.
