A wonderfully wild way to experience the Lake District…

This one’s special. For this trip you’ll leave your car behind, hiking in the Lake District’s fells with a stay at the most remote hostel in England - the legendary Black Sail. Maybe you’ve stayed in accommodation that calls itself a ‘rural retreat’ before - well, Black Sail is really rural, and a proper retreat from the noise and busyness of everyday life.

Pre-trip note: You won’t be able to rely on your car to ferry your belongings to the hostel and there’s no shuttle service, so please make sure you travel light - you’ll enjoy the 6-mile walk in and 7.5 mile walk out so much more with a lighter backpack! Bedding is provided by the hostel but you’ll need your own towel and don’t forget to check out the Compulsory Kit List in the ‘Good to Know’ section below.
